About Raw Cashew Shell
Raw Cashew nut shell is one of the byproducts of the cashew processing industry that can be used as raw material to produce cashew shell oil and burned for energy. Cashew (Western Anacardium) grows both naturally and through planned agricultural activities in subtropical countries, such as: Brazil, Vietnam, Nigeria, Ghana … Cashew nuts include about 30% seed and 70% shell. While cashews are eaten all over the world, the very hard, 1 to 2mm thick cashew shells are often discarded. Cashew shell usually contains: 10.8% water and 2.6% ash. Cashew nut shell has net calorific value of 18.9 MJ / kg, right in the middle of the average biomass fuel interval (14 – 21 MJ / kg). The cashew shell is used to extract cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL), which is an important by-product of the cashew industry
