CNSL contains 90 % of anacardic acid, 5% cardanol and 5% cardol. Anacardic acid finds extensive industrial application in textile, timber protection, preparation of formaldehyde resins, abrasives, brick lining, and ship building because of its high antimicrobial properties. The recent application of CNSL is in the stabilization of nanoparticles. More than 250 patents have been filed on the various industrial uses of CNSL.

Cashew nut shell liquid (also known as cashew nut shell oil, CNSL, cashew nut shell liquid) is the oil extracted from the hard outer shell of the cashew nut. CNSL is extracted from cashew shells by cooking the broken shells at high temperatures. Due to its high resistance to heat, CNSL is considered a versatile raw material with a wide range of applications such as surface coatings, paints, biofuel, varnishes, polymer production, applications in ship paints, wood treatment, lacquer, extracting antibacterial agents… Currently, cashew nut shell oil is being extracted at cashew nut shell oil factories right in Vietnam and exported to many countries around the world. What Is Cashew Nut Shell Liquid Used For?
Cashew Nut Shell Liquid is a byproduct obtained from the processing of cashews and is a material used in the petrochemical industry and is one of the most readily available natural sources of phenol (Phenol is an ingredient used in the processing of medicines, pesticides, paints, resins, resins, and termite-proof treatments for wood). Due to the properties of the drug and the presence of anacardic acids, cashew resin has an antibiotic effect and is used in the treatment of toothache, leprosy, ringworm, warts, scabies, and psoriasis.
