The program will also train agricultural extension officers on how to reduce common diseases that affect cashew crops in Tanzania.

In addition, improved cashew varieties will be distributed to farmers in larger quantities. Farmers will also receive guidance on good agronomic practices so they can grow higher-quality cashew nuts and improve overall yields.

=> Read more: Tanzanian Cashew Farmers Unhappy with Cashew Prices in the 2021/22 Season

A cashew farm owned by a farmer in Tanzania.

Processing Capacity Remains a Major Challenge

Although Tanzania has strong potential in cashew production, the country still faces challenges in processing cashew kernels. The lack of modern cashew processing factories has caused Tanzania to lose valuable export income and thousands of potential jobs.

At present, about 90% of Tanzania’s cashew exports are shipped to countries such as India and Vietnam, mostly in the form of raw cashew nuts. Because raw cashews have a lower market value than processed kernels, Tanzania is missing the chance to earn more from its own crop.

Currently, Tanzania processes only around 10% of its total raw cashew output. The country aims to raise domestic processing capacity to 60% by the 2025/26 season. This would help add more value to Tanzania’s cashew industry and create more jobs inside the country.

Francis Alfred also noted that Tanzania wants to show international partners that its strength is not limited to raw cashew nuts. The country also has the potential to produce high-quality cashew kernels for demanding markets such as Europe, the United States, and Japan.

=> Read more: Tanzania Produced 206,718 Tons of Raw Cashew Nuts in the 2020/21 Season

Related Cashew Kernel Products

Some cashew kernel products from Binh Phuoc Cashew Nuts:

Raw Cashew Nuts

WW240 White Cashew Kernels

WW320 White Cashew Kernels

WW450 White Cashew Kernels

WS White Split Cashew Kernels

WB White Butt Cashew Kernels

The Tanzania Cashewnut Board (TCB) is planning to raise national cashew production from an average of around 300,000 tons of

[183,469,185
222,218,339
post-34638","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-cashew-nut-market","category-cashew-nuts","tag-cashew-news","tag-cashew-nuts","tag-tanzania-cashew-en
["GET
