This strong growth was mainly supported by favorable weather conditions and the positive impact of new cashew varieties.

Cashew Production Exceeds Earlier Expectations

Earlier forecasts had estimated that Côte d’Ivoire’s cashew output would increase from 1.028 million tons in the previous year to around 1.05 million tons in 2023.

However, Adama Coulibaly told reporters that the latest figures were much higher than expected.

“Up to now, the quantity retained by cashew processors in Côte d’Ivoire for local processing is estimated at about 100,000 tons of stock from last year as of June 21, 2023. Together with around 1.15 million tons purchased from farmers, this brings the expected production volume to 1.25 million tons,” he said.

Coulibaly also noted that cashew sellers from neighboring countries such as Guinea, Mali, and Ghana had been bringing their products into Côte d’Ivoire this year because the market was considered more profitable than in their home countries.

“This concerns us because the quality is not the same, which could affect our reputation,” he said.

Stronger Cashew Exports and Local Processing

According to Adama Coulibaly, cashew exports to Vietnam and India increased to 593,000 tons, compared with 455,315 tons during the same period the previous year. This growth was supported by cooperation among different stakeholders to boost cashew exports from the country.

He added that officials were also working to increase the volume of cashews processed locally. Four cashew industrial zones are being built in the northern and central regions of Côte d’Ivoire. These facilities are expected to expand the country’s processing capacity in the coming months.

More Information About Cashews in Côte d’Ivoire

With annual cashew production of around 1 million tons, Côte d’Ivoire, best known as the world’s largest cocoa producer, has also become one of the world’s leading cashew producers.

Côte d’Ivoire Cashew Harvest Season

Harvest begins: January to February

Harvest ends: June to July

Major Cashew-Growing Regions in Côte d’Ivoire

Gbêkê

Poro

Kabadougou

Abidjan

Yamoussoukro

Bélier

Agnéby-Tiassa

Bagoué

Worodougou

Hamble

Cashew-growing areas in Côte d’Ivoire include Bafing, Denguélé, Lacs, Toumodi, Marahoué, Moyen Comoé, N’Zi Comoé, Savanes, Bandama Valley, Worodougou, and Zanzan.

On June 22, 2023, Adama Coulibaly, Director General of the Cotton and Cashew Council of Côte d’Ivoire, announced that the

[183,469,185
459,395,454
post-34458","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-cashew-nut-market","category-cashew-nuts","tag-cashew","tag-hat-dieu-nhan-en","tag-ivory-coast-cashews
["GET
