However, the lack of Cashew processing factories<\/strong> has lost Tanzania&#8217;s vital foreign revenues and thousands of jobs. The minister of state in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office responsible for investment <strong>William Olenasha said<\/strong> <em>&#8220;The Government of Tanzanian is planning a tax incentive for <strong>local Cashew Processing Companies<\/strong> to promote the production of cashew kernels for international export&#8221;.<\/em><strong> Tanzania is one of the largest raw cashew nut producers in Africa<\/strong>, with exports providing 10-15 % of Tanzania&#8217;s foreign exchange. At the time, cashew nut exports contribute <strong>10-15% of Tanzania&#8217;s foreign exchange<\/strong>. <span class=\"fontstyle0\">The total planted area with cashew in Tanzania Mainland nuts was<strong> 695,683 ha.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<strong>A<span class=\"eHaQD\">bout 90 % of the area<\/span><\/strong> is\u00a0<span class=\"eHaQD\"><strong>planted<\/strong> with cashew nuts found in <\/span><strong><span class=\"eHaQD\">three regions of Mtwara, Lindi, and Pwani. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-para-word-count=\"31\"><span class=\"eHaQD\"><strong>Mtwara:<\/strong> <em>327,281 ha &#8211; 47.0% &#8211;<\/em> <em>(had the largest area planted with cashew nuts)<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li data-para-word-count=\"31\"><span class=\"eHaQD\"><strong>Lindi:<\/strong> <em>207,951 ha &#8211; 29.9%<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li data-para-word-count=\"31\"><span class=\"eHaQD\"><strong>Pwani:<\/strong> <em>91,815 ha &#8211; 13.2%<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>In the 2020\/21 cashew season, Tanzanian cashew farmers have produced 206,718 tones of <a href=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/en\/product\/raw-cashew-nuts-in-shell-vietnam\">RCN<\/a>. The total volume of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/en\/product\/raw-cashew-nuts-in-shell-vietnam\">raw cashew nuts<\/a> <em>(RCN)<\/em> Tanzania Exported to Vietnam in the first 4 months of 2021 was 131.757 tons, worth 191 million USD. In addition, The Tanzanian government has been facing challenges in finding potential investors to revive the cashew processing industry in Tanzania. Following the new measures and procedures, <strong>a total of five local cashew factories in Tanzania have been registered.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"31\">William Olenash said, <em>&#8220;The government will continue offering different tax and non-tax attraction measures to attract investment including allocating special areas for the construction of factories in the cashews producing areas in the country.&#8221; <\/em>According to him, those special areas will be provided with all support services and infrastructures such as electricity, water, and roads as well as levies imposed on machinery, equipment, parts, and packaging materials.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17642\" style=\"width: 986px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17642\" class=\"wp-image-17642 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Peeling-raw-cashew-nut-at-local-cashew-factory-tanzania.jpg\" alt=\"Peeling raw cashew nut at local cashew factory tanzania\" width=\"976\" height=\"549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Peeling-raw-cashew-nut-at-local-cashew-factory-tanzania.jpg 976w, https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Peeling-raw-cashew-nut-at-local-cashew-factory-tanzania-150x84.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 976px) 100vw, 976px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17642\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Peeling raw cashew nut at local cashew factory Tanzania<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Tanzania GOV Encourages to Priority Sell RCN to Local Factories<\/h2>\n<p>According to a recent report, <strong>in April\/2021 &#8211; at least 2,021.7 tonnes of RCN were purchased by 9 Local cashew nut factories<\/strong>, they will process RCN into cashew nut kernels that meet international export standards such as <a href=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/en\/product\/ww180-cashew-nut-vietnam\">W180<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/en\/product\/ww210-cashew-nut-vietnam\">W210<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/en\/product\/ww240-cashew-nut-vietnam\">W240<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/kimmyfarm.com\/en\/product\/ww320-cashew-nut-vietnam\">W320<\/a>&#8230;, with a higher value than RCN. The Tanzania GOV has introduced the cashews primary market system in the 2020\/21 production season, enabling domestic processing factories to buy RCN for raw materials in their processing without competition at low prices.
